THE PROCESS
Stamped concrete is the process of imprinting a textured stamp or pattern on fresh concrete in order to create patterns that resemble brick, slate, flagstone, tile, wood...virtually any surface texture imaginable. The process involves the use of color (hardener or integral), release agents, stamping tools, and sealer to create a unique look for your interior and exterior floors. Stamped concrete can be used to enhance the look and durability of driveways, pool decks, porches and entries, patios, walkways, and can even be used to customize landscape curbing. Stamped concrete is a low-cost, low- maintenance, and quicker alternative to often expensive traditional surface treatments.

When finished, stamped and colored concrete is nonporous, making it water-proof and stain resistant. Because concrete is laid in one single monolithic pour, no grass or dirt will grow or get between the concrete. It is also perfect for high-traffic areas, withstanding considerable use without any noticeable damage or wear.

COLOR HARDENER
Color hardener is added to the floor after the concrete is freshly poured, making the surface harder and less porous. Color hardener makes stamped concrete stronger than regular concrete, bringing the surface strength up to 8,000 psi (almost triple the tensile strength of regular concrete). This dry combination of materials not only hardens and adds color to the concrete, but also conditions the surface, increasing abrasion and impact resistance, reducing future maintenance and repair expenses. The color hardener creates a durable, easily maintained concrete surface that can be cleaned with a mop and broom. Colored concrete does not have to be stamped.

INTEGRAL COLOR
Integral coloring agents are added while the concrete is being mixed. The color disperses throughout the entire concrete slab and the concrete retains the color even if chipped, worn, or saw-cut. Products for integrally coloring concrete are made with ingredients that cause the color to consistently disperse within the concrete mix. The end result is stamped color concrete that is streak-free, UV resistant, and non-fading. Integrally colored concrete tends to have a muted, natural appearance because the colors are blended into the concrete. Colored concrete does not have to be stamped.

COLOR CHART
The colors for stamped concrete are often chosen to compliment existing stone, brick, trim, roofing and hardscapes residence.

STAMP PATTERNS
Stamp patterns are often chosen to compliment existing brick, stone, or tile flooring at the residence. Some of the most popular patterns for stamped concrete are cobblestone, ashlars slate, flagstone, and random stone.

MAINTENANCE
Stamped concrete is easy to clean and maintain. Cleaning and sealing stamped and colored concrete should be done on a regular basis just like any other home maintenance. The frequency will depend on whether or not the concrete is in position to have a lot of car and foot traffic or will be around excessive water or chemical use.
